School lunches often get a bad rap for being unhealthy, unappetizing, and unsatisfying. Recently, this disappointing trend has switched it up and an improved lunch experience has arrived. School lunches are now healthier than ever before, with a number of changes contributing to reduced sodium levels and a higher availability of whole grains and fresh fruits and vegetables. Schools are an important place for children to develop healthy eating habits that generally carry through to adult life. Reinforce these healthy habits at home by maintaining a balanced diet with a variety of healthy options like fresh fruits as opposed to canned. PS. Frozen vegetables are a good alternative if fresh options are unavailable.
